Costumes -
All Primary students must wear their Bloom t-shirts for the exam. Please email admin@bloomperformingarts.co.uk if you need to re-order a t-shirt. Students are welcome to wear any additional costume and trousers/skirts they would like to, as long as the t-shirt is not covered. The play is set in modern day so this can be anything they already own. If your child is playing 2 characters, please have them bring 2 items of clothing that they can easily switch between. E.g. two zip up hoodies or a scarf etc. They are free to be as creative as they like with their costumes, but must keep the Bloom t-shirt visible.

If a skirt is worn, please ensure they wear shorts underneath to protect their dignity during the dance. Girls must have hair tied/clipped back or a headband to keep it from covering their faces. Heeled shoes are not permitted, please ensure trainers suitable for dancing are worn.

Youth Theatre Academy students are to wear their own costumes suitable for their play. They are not required to wear Bloom t-shirts.
What you can expect to see -
You are coming to watch the students taking their exams in Group Acting! The Grade your child will complete depends on how many years they have been working with Bloom. Their first exam starts at Grade 1, no matter what year they are in, and moves up each year they work with us.
The exam entails the performance of a short extract from any play that demonstrates the key skills of characterisation, projection and diction, and team work. Some of our returning students will be participating in their Grade 6, 7, and 8 exams, as well as three groups looking to complete their Diplomas.
For our primary school members, their performance of ‘The Pied Piper of Spamtin’ will be delivered in short sections with the class having been split into small groups. Each of these short sections will be considered its own examination, and each small group will be given a grade. For our Youth Theatre Academy members, students will present short extracts from plays and adaptations of texts they will study on the GCSE English curriculum.
As today is an exam day, it is possible (however unlikely) that our examiner may wish to pause the performances or see part of them again, and will certainly ask the students some questions afterwards about their performance - this discussion is part of the exam.
Next Project -
From February to July we will produce a full musical, which we are excited to announce will be 101 Dalmatians!

As always, we will deliver PSHE topics through the themes of the plays to develop the Social, Emotional and Mental Health of the engaging students. Our focus is on communicating value and facilitating realisations to build students into people of substance who are equipped to face real-world challenges, with the added bonus of a performance at the end!
Finally -
We are so looking forward to sharing the product of your student's work with you. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
Until then:
