What a brilliant start to the new school year! We’ve had such a wonderful few weeks settling back into classes, building confidence, and beginning work in our Primary Schools on our brand new space themed production: “Flight of the Millennium Pigeon” 🚀

Meanwhile, our older students at Poynton Youth Theatre Academy have thrown themselves into the challenge of bringing classic set texts to life, and we’ve loved watching their creativity and insight shine through. Some are even working towards medals for their upcoming performance, but more on that later!

💛 Our Focus: Kindness

At Bloom, drama isn’t just about performing, it’s about growing as people. Every project we deliver is built around a PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) theme, designed to help students develop their social, emotional, and mental wellbeing alongside their creative skills.

Drama is a natural space for these lessons. Through role-play, storytelling, and teamwork, children learn how to empathise with others, communicate clearly, manage emotions, and build confidence (all while having fun).

This term’s PSHE theme is Kindness. We’ve already explored the power of smiling, the importance of giving genuine compliments, and the value of gratitude. Students have approached these ideas with so much thought and maturity, and it’s been wonderful to see those lessons reflected in how they work together in rehearsals.

In the coming weeks, we’ll continue looking at what it means to be kind. Not just to others, but to ourselves - and how compassion and teamwork make every performance stronger.

We can’t wait to see this story take flight!

🌟 Stars of the Term

This term, we’ve been so impressed by the energy, kindness, and imagination in every group. Here are just a few students who have gone above and beyond:

EM: Isla J – for bringing constant positivity and humour to every rehearsal, and for her brilliant teamwork.

OLOR: Freddie G – for exceptional characterisation work and for giving 100% energy & enthusiasm in his scene.

SA: Maisie H-L – for beautiful behaviour, focus, and courage in stepping up to new challenges.

SH: Eva L – for showing growing confidence, reliability, and a natural flair for performance.

V(R): Isla C-K – for spreading joy throughout the group and showing maturity beyond her years.

V(E): Cerys H – for her thoughtfulness, kindness, and excellent listening in every session.

PYTA: Grace D – for her consistency, creativity, and dedication to helping bring every moment to life.

✨ Costumes & Creativity

It’s never too early to start thinking about costumes!

You can view the moodboard and full costume guide here:

Bloom T-shirts should be visible beneath any costume pieces on performance day.

We love seeing students get creative! Have fun with accessories, colour, and detail that might help bring their characters to life!

👕 Bloom T-Shirts & Rehearsal Clothing

All students are required to wear their Bloom T-shirt for rehearsals and performances. If your child has lost or grown out of theirs, please get in touch to request a reorder.

New students who have already placed an order will receive their T-shirts as soon as our next delivery arrives - thank you for your patience!

If your child wears a skirt to school, please ensure they bring shorts or leggings to wear underneath for rehearsals. This helps everyone move comfortably during practical work.

🚀 Looking Ahead

We’re incredibly proud of every student and the progress they’ve made this half term.

Rehearsals will continue to build momentum after the break, and we can already tell 'Flight of the Millennium Pigeon' is going to be something special.

Thank you for helping students come prepared, organised, and full of enthusiasm each week, it makes all the difference.

We can’t wait to share their creativity and hard work with you on stage in January and February!

Finally, please enjoy this poem written by one of OLOR students:

Sometimes in a lifetime of laughter, work and strife,

We meet someone unique who brings joy to our life.

And we walk in the light of that special someone

Whose presence warms our heart much like the springtime sun.

Sometimes in a lifetime a friend is so real and true

comes making it better, that's how I think of you.

Have a lovely holiday!
