Welcome to our first newsletter of the year!
We hope this message finds you well as we enter the delightful autumn months. It's time to celebrate the incredible achievements of our talented students and share the highlights of what we've accomplished during this school term. Welcome to the September - October edition of the Bloom Tuition and Education newsletter!
At Bloom, we take pride in our unique approach to education. We believe in the power of drama as a tool for personal, social, and emotional development. Our commitment to delivering PSHE through drama sets us apart, and this term has been no exception.
In this newsletter, you'll find a glimpse into the enriching experiences your children have had throughout the term. We'll shine a spotlight on some exceptional students who have demonstrated creativity, leadership, and resilience in their dramatic journeys.
This space serves as a reminder of the positive impact drama education can have on our young performers. There's no specific action required from you at this time – simply enjoy reading about the fantastic work your children have been doing and the exciting news on the horizon.
Romy - EM
The first student we'd like to highlight is the wonderfully talented Romy (from EM). Her recent improvisational storytelling has left an unforgettable mark on all of her peers, and her story was so exceptional that we couldn't resist sharing it with all our schools.
In her captivating narrative, Romy's princess yearned to be taller, only to embark on a profound journey of self-discovery, realizing that she was perfect just the way she was. This extraordinary story quickly became the centerpiece of our week, touching the hearts and minds of students in every school. Its exceptional quality and profound meaning prompted us to share it with all our schools as a shining example of exceptional storytelling that resonated deeply with students far and wide.
Amelie - OLOR
When we were welcoming new students to the OLOR group, Amelie shared her personal experience. She recounted when she was overcome by nerves just before one of our performances. Amelie revealed that despite the initial anxiety, the profound sense of accomplishment that followed the performance had left her with the "biggest smile ever," and an unwavering desire to do it all over again.
In opening up to the new students and recounting her journey, Amelie had a profound impact on the group. She not only put them at ease, but she also beautifully demonstrated the positive effects of personal growth and development through pushing past the boundaries of our comfort zones. This very theme, of positive growth and development, is at the heart of our current project. Amelie's story serves as a living testament to the transformative power of our shared journey, inspiring us all to embrace the challenges and grow through them.
Ophelia - OLOR
In one of our recent sessions, we delved into the fascinating world of how and why people develop different opinions on the same topics. Ophelia took the lead and orchestrated a thought-provoking debate that revolved around the question of whether "phones are dangerous." Her approach was nothing short of brilliant.
With careful consideration and a touch of creativity, Ophelia delivered her debate. She not only presented well-thought-out arguments but also added a touch of theatrical flair with the use of props. Her confidence and persuasive delivery were so impactful that it felt as though she could have presented any argument, and we would have been convinced.
After an engaging discussion, she led the students to a unanimous decision that phones must indeed be regarded as potentially dangerous, emphasising the importance of exercising caution and responsibility when it comes to our digital devices. Ophelia's ability to inspire critical thinking and drive the group toward consensus showcased her exceptional talent as a leader and communicator.
Are Phones Dangerous?
Ophelia is right - they definitely are.
Not at all.
Tamirah and Matilda - SA
When extending a warm welcome to a new member of our group, I had the privilege of witnessing a truly heartwarming moment. It was Tamirah and Matilda who took the initiative, their compassion shining through as they reached out to the shy newcomer.
Their kindness and inclusiveness were truly touching. Tamirah and Matilda ensured that the new member not only felt welcomed but also had a genuine opportunity to actively participate in our discussions. Their gestures created a safe space where the newcomer's voice was not only heard but valued, reminding us all of the importance of kindness, empathy, and inclusivity in our community.
Lois and Brooke - V
Lois and Brooke, two of our newest students, have absolutely dazzled us with their fantastic character portrayals and quick-thinking improvisational skills. Their enthusiasm and dedication are simply infectious, and we can't wait to see how they'll continue to shine and grow as young performers here at Bloom. Brooke and Lois are absolute stars, and their journey is just beginning, so brace yourselves for even more fantastic performances and growth from these talented rising stars. We're thrilled to have them as part of our theatre community!
Year 9 Macbeth - Poynton Youth Theatre Academy
Our Youth Theatre Academy works with students from years 7-13 and combines set texts for English literature with dramatic performance, enriching their understanding of both subjects. With enthusiasm, our groups have undertaken their respective set plays, producing a diverse range of performances. Notably, an improvised "roadman" comedy version of Macbeth, which, while entertaining, managed to stay surprisingly faithful to the plot. As the term progressed, our students transitioned to more authentic styles in line with the original eras of the plays, which we eagerly anticipate showcasing in our upcoming February exams.

All our primary students embark on their journey at Grade 1 and steadily progress each year. We're thrilled to share that last year, all of our primary school students achieved Distinctions in their exams.
