Exam Performance 2026

What an amazing term it’s been! We are so proud of the progress and achievements we’ve seen across all classes this year.


A very warm welcome to our new Lostock Hall parents! Just to explain a little, this newsletter is celebrating the performances that have recently taken place in January/February, which your students will be able to take part in this time next year!


These performances were examined by the Victoria College of Music and Drama London. We are currently awaiting this year’s exam results and will share updates as soon as they are released. This was one of our strongest performances to date, with students showing outstanding dedication, focus, and enthusiasm throughout. In previous years, we have been incredibly proud to see 100% of our students achieve Distinctions, with each child receiving their own accredited certificate, and we are extremely hopeful for a similarly positive outcome this year.


Next Performance - Save the Date

Our next major performance will take place on 27th June, so please make sure it’s in your diary! This year, we’re thrilled to be bringing The Wizard of Oz to the stage. We can’t wait to follow the yellow brick road with our talented cast as they bring this much loved story to life. Expect colour, magic, adventure, and some truly unforgettable performances as we journey to the Emerald City together.



Poynton Youth Theatre Academy - A Vital Part of the Production

As part of The Wizard of Oz, our Youth Theatre Academy students will once again be fully involved in the technical and creative side of the production as well as the performance. This hands on experience allows them to explore every aspect of theatre making, preparing them for roles both onstage and behind the scenes. Their training includes:


  • Sound design and operation

  • Lighting design and operation

  • Stage management

  • Costume design

  • Set design


Students will work with professional equipment and receive guidance from experienced theatre practitioners. They will also be given a budget to plan and create their own production areas, learning how to take a show from concept to performance. This process equips them with invaluable skills and insight into the theatre industry, nurturing confident, capable future theatre makers.


Awards!

This term, we’ve been celebrating our students by presenting special awards that recognise the qualities we value most in our performers. These awards highlight not only talent, but also teamwork, dedication, and personal growth. The following awards have been presented:


1. Heart of the Cast:
 For consistently lifting others up, supporting fellow performers, and creating a positive, encouraging spirit in every rehearsal and onstage moment.

2. Director’s Choice:
 For outstanding commitment, professionalism, and bringing a unique presence and energy that made the performance truly shine.

3. Breakthrough Award: For remarkable growth in confidence and performance skills, courageously taking on challenges, and showing noticeable development from first rehearsal to final curtain.

Reopening Dates

Workshops will resume in your child’s first week back after half term. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back.
