Dear Bloom families,

It has been an incredible start to the year! We’ve especially loved celebrating our exam results this term, with 100% of our students achieving Distinctions. Well done to all our students for their hard work and dedication!

A special shout out and congratulations to Anna (Y12) for achieving a perfect score of 100 on her Silver Medal in Public Speaking, an extraordinary achievement.

Creativity, Kindness, and Teamwork

This half term, our primary school classes have been exploring the theme of kindness, inspired by Dorothy and her friends in The Wizard of Oz. Students have been discovering what it means to show kindness by not giving up on others, supporting each other, and trying new things even when they feel nervous. This theme has guided their character development and teamwork exercises, helping them grow both on a personal level and as performers.

It has been wonderful to see students embracing this with courage and generosity, and the sessions have been full of laughter, thoughtful discussions, and moments of genuine insight.

Poynton Youth Theatre Academy

PYTA students are about to receive their roles for the upcoming production, both onstage and behind the scenes. They will be taking on a variety of responsibilities, including acting, stage management, costume and set design, lighting, and sound. Each student has the opportunity to engage fully with the creative process, developing both their performance skills and technical expertise.

Stars of the Term

We’re delighted to recognise the following students for their outstanding contributions this term:

EM – Sienna: Always positive and encouraging, bringing energy and support to every session.

OLOR – Eleanor: New to the group and already impressing with focus, excellent behaviour, and enthusiasm.

SA – Leah: One of our longest standing students, always reliable, thoughtful, and consistently a star. We’re thrilled she’s received this recognition at last!

SH – Nyma: Gentle, kind, and committed to drama, approaching every session with focus and care.

LH – Karina: Exceptional expression and characterisation, bringing her role to life with extraordinary professionalism.

V(E) – Matilda: New to Bloom, she has amazed us all with her creativity, confidence, and willingness to take part in anything and everything.

V(R) – Neive: Hilarious, energetic, and full of personality, bringing fun and laughter to the room.

PYTA – James B: Named “Star of the Show” by his examiner for his outstanding commitment to performance. He is consistently focused during every rehearsal, and always supportive with his peers behind the scenes.

Funny Moment

A special shout out goes to Neive from Vernon this term – her comic timing has the whole class laughing and lifts the energy in the room.

Looking Ahead

A reminder to save the date for our end of year performance, a celebration of all the creativity, teamwork, and storytelling our students have developed over the year.

Performance Schedule:

Performance 1 – approx. 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Featuring: Our Lady of the Rosary, Lostock Hall, St Ann's, St Hilda's, and Poynton Youth Theatre Academy

Performance 2 – approx. 5:00pm - 9:00pm

Featuring: Vernon, English Martyrs', and Poynton Youth Theatre Academy

Further details and timings will follow next term, but for now, please keep the date free. Costume info will be sent out after the holidays. The script and cast list has been emailed to you. Please encourage line learning over Easter. Here is a line learning trick that we use when we do holiday clubs where students learning a whole play in just 5 days:

1. Read through half a page of lines looking at the script.

2. Read through the same lines looking at the script, but read them as fast as possible.

3. Turn the script over and say the lines without looking at the script.

  • If possible, have someone read the other lines with the student. If not, they can cover the other lines with a piece of paper and slowly move down the page, only revealing each line once they say it confidently from memory without looking at the script.

Do this for just 2 minutes a day and they will know them in no time.

We are so proud of all our students for the creativity, kindness, and dedication they’ve shown this term. Their energy and commitment makes Bloom such a special community, and we can’t wait to see how they continue to grow as performers and storytellers in the months ahead.

Kindest regards and very best wishes,

The Bloom Team
